Hi there! I'm Sarah
Whether we are meeting for the first time or old friends, I’m likely going to force you to get coffee with me so we can chat. I love small talk over coffee but later we’ll get into the details over wine.
but what do you do?
My work focuses on beautiful hand lettering and typography. You might say that I’m just obsessed with letters in general. I create everything from home decor and invitations to font design and design resources for the iPad. I also love that I get to take my skills and teach you how to letter and grow a hobby or successful lettering business.
so how did you get here?
I believe in creative living and exploring new hobbies and passions. I didn’t always plan on having a creative business. In fact, I have another job/passion where I’m a Family Physician. At 24 years old, in the middle of medical school, I took a year to refocus and completed a Masters in Public Health. All of the sudden, I had more free time and naturally developed new hobbies including...hand lettering. Little did I know that I had started a journey to building my little corner of the internet. Today, you can find me either rushing around the hospital caring for patients or you can find me at my Mac computer in my home office (puppies at my feet, cold coffee nearby) encouraging this small business to grow.
A New Experience of Flavor
Coffee tastes have changed so much that I remember around 2012, introducing a much more acidic coffee into our blend thinking we were going to lead customers into a new experience of flavour, only to be dismayed on day one with customer’s dissatisfaction with a fruitier and more flavourful coffee. Coffee is after all the seed of a fruit. From then on, we began to work at a gradual pace, turning up the brightness a little, season after season. Today we can proudly craft a coffee with notes of lemon meringue, strawberry or passionfruit and find people on all sides of the counter are learning and developing their pallets.
I should've known that the girl who would set up a lemonade stand on a Monday afternoon in a rural Minnesota town of 400 people would grow to become an entrepreneur someday.

Nestled in St. Paul, MN, Hewitt Avenue opened in 2014 offering digital art prints and invitations. Several years later, a graduation from medical school, and a move across the country to South Carolina...Now I’m focusing on hand lettering and teaching others how to get their start in lettering and starting their own small business.
